As the voice of the people of Kent, I will fight against prejudice and discrimination, and ensure full equality and protection for people of all backgrounds and beliefs.
Setting objectives to reduce hate crime within Kent and improve the safety and confidence for all will improve our community.
I was a legal aid solicitor at a practice in Chatham that fought for the victims of crimes against a person. So I know from first-hand experience that the background of such cases is complex: victims need help and perpetrators need not just punishment, but guidance to overcome their problem.
Working with the probation, health, education, social service sectors, as well as voluntary and business groups, I would expect Kent's police and crime plan to set targets that would reduce all types of hate crime.
